What are the Duties of a Vikara Village® Board Member?
We recognize that our board members come from diverse backgrounds and often have demanding professional and personal commitments. While we encourage active participation in our mission, we understand that involvement can take various forms. As a board member, we ask that you fulfill the following requirements:
- Attend all Board and committee meetings, as well as the annual retreat. Read the materials beforehand and let us know if you can’t make it.
- Actively participate in meetings and calls with thoughtful and positive contributions. Join at least one Board committee.
- Support Board activities by completing the Conflict of Interest and Disclosure Statement, the Board assessment, and the Executive Director performance review annually.
- Follow the Board’s Code of Conduct.
- Help recruit volunteers and prospective Board Members for Vikara Village® programs.
- Share information about Vikara Village®’s programs with potential participants and their families.
- Be an Ambassador for Vikara Village® by introducing friends and colleagues, hosting a friend-raiser event, and inviting guests to Vikara Village® events. Always represent Vikara Village® positively.

As Vikara Village® continues to grow and expand its impact, we are seeking dedicated board members committed to fulfilling the listed duties. We value your involvement in our mission, your expertise in improving and scaling our efforts, or your connections to help us secure support.
The ideal candidates will have prior experience working with the nonprofit community to achieve their fundraising and governance goals.
