Helping teens & pre-teens feel comfortable and confident in their minds & bodies
through mind-body practices
In a time of so much uncertainty, we want to provide a space for our teen and pre-teen community to connect, make new friends, and learn mind-body techniques they will carry with them throughout their lives.
Purpose + Peace EBB (Excel Beyond the Bell) is an out-of-school-time program for middle school youth (grades 6-8) to build a healthy sense of self, community, and belonging through mind-body practices, like movement and art.
We find these tools to enable young people to feel comfortable and confident in their bodies and minds. Developed by mental health and mind-body practitioners, our curriculum is well supported by research. We provide practical self-care techniques for emotional well-being during these critical years of psychological and physical change in a safe space.
Expressive arts, like movement, games, visual art, journaling, guided discussion, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques are used to support this work and empower young teens with tools they can use during everyday situations at school, with family members and with friends.
Your young teen will learn to:
- Set positive goals
- Increase their focus
- Improve grades
- Increase confidence
- Decrease depression and anxiety
- Create a positive peer group
Purpose + Peace EBB provides all the tools you need to successfully participate in our program, including a mat, art supplies, and other props.
Our classes are taught by positive, inspiring and specially-trained adult facilitators who teach middle schoolers about goal-setting, problem-solving and communication. We teach a flowing style yoga class which allows students to orchestrate breath and movement. We find this approach relaxes the mind and allows participants to focus on being in their bodies. We teach from a place of non-judgment and compassion.
Facilitators begin each class with group introductions and a daily theme related to building self-confidence, self-trust, cultivating a positive mental attitude, healthy relationships, dealing with stress, goal exploration and exercising. Classes end with guided relaxation. We’ve built in plenty of time for questions and dialogue with their peers and facilitators.
